Daily Draw- The Lovers, Two of Pentacles, Six of Wands

I chose the Deviant Moon because I love it, because it had the only Major Arcana from yesterday, and such a good one, and because its' weird quirkiness fits my weird quirky mood at the moment.   Both the Bohemian Gothic and Tarot Maroon are lovely, fitting decks that will probably get a turn on the blog, but this week it is just me and my first love.

My working copy (I have two more in pristine condition because I am a bit of a hoarder like that) has been lovingly released of its' borders and clumsily gilded with silver.  I love it all the more for that.

Tonight I am reading at an event for a friend's sister, a fundraiser to help raise money to fill in the gaps her insurance has left between what she needs to treat her breast cancer and what they are willing to pay for.  If you are in Denver, please come by and see me, have a drink, do a little dancing, bid on a private reading or a psychic party, or any of the other cool stuff they have on offer at The Olde Towne Tavern, 2410 W Main St, Littleton, Colorado 80120-1911.  The restaurant is open until 2am, but will be open only for fundraiser guests from 5pm-9pm.  It is a Halloween party, so get as much use out of your costume as possible!  Me, I'll be rocking the Gypsy chic, and choice of this deck or the Halloween Tarot to get a reading from.

I am asking my cards what I can expect from that event tonight.

Deviant Moon Tarot- The Lovers, Two of Petancles, Six of Wands
The Lovers may indicate my handsome man joining me to help, and I adore him for his willingness to support and assist me in following my dreams.  When The Lovers appear in a reading, it is always advice to follow your heart, and my heart tells me to read tarot.  I love it!  It's my passion.  In fact, I love it so much that I can forget all other things, like today when I never ate until dinnertime, and like the man in the card, I doubt I would even notice a snake biting me while I am in the midst of it, which is saying a lot, because I am unreasonably terrified of snakes.  That may be another message for me, that doing what I love and am so passionate about blinds me to my fear, makes them not matter as much, and takes my focus away from them.

This Two of Pentacles is probably my favorite card in the entire world, she is so beautiful to me.  A large print of this card dominates our living room decor.  This card is about making the logistical details of life work, and to get to this party I have had to do some finagling with the kids.  That's okay, with a little help from my sister in law, a little repaid favors, it is all working out.  I think this card also means I will be busy, managing many things at once, which is perfect.  The more money raised for this cause, the better!  Because I love the imagery of the card so much, it reflects back to The Lovers, and doing what I love.

The Six of Wands is a card of victory and accolades.  I think having a reader at the party will be a success, and hopefully it will mean more money donated to the cause.  If I do well, if I impress enough people, hopefully I can add a few clients to my roster, as well, always the goal of the small business person.  Wands are about our passions, and Sixes are new found stability, as well as relating to the Lovers, so I think this makes a very cohesive reading that talks about me doing what I love to the benefit of all.  I couldn't be happier!

Deviant Moon Tarot- The Sun

The shadow card of the reading is The Sun.  This is such a bright, happy card, but I think it may be alluding to the fact that I want to please everyone and I may just not be able to.  My physical health will not allow me to sit for long periods of time, and the logistics of my child care means I cannot party until the Sun comes up, even if I had sitters willing to do so.  I won't read while taking pain meds, so at some point I will have to go home to my children, take those meds, and potentially not read for everyone who wants one.  My back up plan is to offer a Quick Look via email to anyone who was there in person but was not able to get a reading from me.

All in all, I expect a very successful event, and I am hoping to really put a huge dent in this sweet ladies medical bills.  Again, if you have the time, please come down and help a great cause while having a good bit of fun!

Deviant Moon Tarot- Temperance
I wrote this post just before going to bed last night, and I dreamt of the Temperance card from this deck while I was sleeping.  Look what we have here- The Lovers (6) + the 2 of Pentacles + the 6 of Wands = 14, Temperance.  This is a further message that I need to manage my time at the event wisely, and be prepared to balance the needs of my health and my family with the needs of the crowd.  Further, this event takes place in a restaurant with a bar, and I need to be aware of how drinking can sometimes affect people and they way they receive their readings.  I myself will play with cards, for myself only, if I have had a beer or a glass of wine, but never while I am reading in a professional capacity.  I have noticed that alcohol tends to dissolve some social barriers, so I have to be extra sure to phrase my readings gently and simply for the drinkers at the party.

Update- It was a great evening, packed full, and I had a wonderful time doing readings, meeting interesting people, and supporting a very worthy cause.  Not to mention the fact that I am like a magpie and I wear very little jewelry or make up in my day to day life so I relish every chance to pile every piece I own on and go crazy with the smoky eye AND red lips AND glitter.  I am very glad I had that Temperance revelation, because I did have a couple of people who had imbibed quite a bit, and having a sense of humor as well as remembering that drunk people tell no lies and need a certain kind of gentleness helped me a lot.  I am praying that enough money was raised to really put a dent in the guest of honor's bills, because I got to meet her and she is a sweet soul who should not be getting shafted by her insurance company, and I am just glad if I could help in any way.

  1. Hope the event is a great success on all levels. Makes me wish I were that side of the pond - a reading from you, in person and in gypsy costume, sounds fun and inspirational!

    1. Aww thanks, Chloe! I for one had a great time, and the place was packed so I am really hoping lots of money was made. Some of my sitters cried, some laughed, some at the same time, so I consider hat a success. I am always grateful for people to take the leap and trust me to read their cards. My donations sold, and my tip jar was full of more donations, so I feel happy. Thank you for your well wishes!
